Friday, October 14th – Deer Creek Youth Choir Welcome Night for Singers and their Families, 6:30-8:00 p.m., Bethel Presbyterian Church. An opportunity to meet other singers and parents, receive your music binder for the fall, get measured for your DCYC uniform and learn more about DCYC!
Tuesday, October 18th – First Rehearsal, 5:00-6:30 p.m. Bethel Presbyterian Church.
Saturday, October 29th – DCYC Fall Retreat – 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. – Bethel Presbyterian Church. A required morning of rehearsal, music and team-building games. An opportunity to get a jump-start on our December Concert Music and continue to make friendships with fellow singers.
Saturday, October 29th – Inform and Inspire Gala celebrating the DCC 10th Anniversary! 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Enjoy a fabulous evening of dinner, drinks, and live music featuring jazz and Gershwin at The Music Barn at Silo Hill in Phoenix, Maryland (14601 Cooper Road, Phoenix, MD). The featured speaker will be Goucher College President and world renown jazz pianist Jose Antonio Bowen. Also performing will be our own Steve Scheinberg and his Jazz Trio, and celebrity Carolyn Black-Sotir singing Gershwin. Silo Hill offers a stunning view of the surrounding countryside and is the host of the noted Steinway Series of concerts featuring local and national guest artists. You won’t want to miss this outstanding program! Tickets for the event are $60 and may be purchased here.
Sunday, October 30th – Walk for Alzheimer’s (DCC’s charity partner) at the Harford County Equestrian Center (608 N. Tollgate Road, Bel Air, MD 21014), 11:00 a.m. Join Team DCC on this two-mile walk to raise money for this very worthy cause. There is no registration fee, but participants are asked to make a personal donation. The DCC’s total goal is $2,000. Join the fun and register on-line here!
Sunday, December 4th – “Behold New Joy” Holiday Concert with DCC at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, (1200 E. Churchville RD. Bel Air MD 21014) 3:00 p.m. The DCYC will join the DCC as they kick off the holiday season with the “Behold the Joy” Christmas Concert at St. Matthews Lutheran Church at 4:00 p.m. (1200 E. Churchville RD. Bel Air MD 21014). The first half of the performance will feature Pergolesi’s “Magnificat” and a performance by the DCYC. The second half of the concert will be devoted to Kirchner’s “Behold New Joy” and Susa’s “Christmas Garland.” Ring in the holiday spirit with the DCC! Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for seniors and students, and may be purchased here.
Sunday, February 19th – Joint DCYC & DCC Chamber Choir at St. James Church in Monkton MD (3100 Monkton RD, Monkton MD 21111), 3:00 p.m.
Saturday, April 1, 2017 – Maryland Young Voices Festival (All-day with final concert at 7 p.m.) This annual festival brings together the top children’s and youth community choirs from across the state. Students will have the opportunity to work with acclaimed conductor, Evan Bruno, from the Chicago Children’s Choir. Choirs will perform individually for each other as well as together in a group festival choir under the direction of Mr. Bruno. The day culminates in a free evening concert with all choirs.
Sunday April 30th – Music and Memory Collaboration Concert at Kraushaar Auditorium, Goucher College at 4:00 p.m. (1021 Dulaney Valley Rd. Baltimore, MD 21204). This concert is presented in partnership with the Goucher College Department of Music. Their director and accomplished composer, Daniel McDavitt, has been commissioned to compose an anniversary work to celebrate our 10th year, with Music and Memory as its theme. In addition to the premier of that work and others that will feature performances by the DCC, the DCYC, and the ensembles of Goucher College, we will combine all the choirs and orchestra to showcase the Mid-Atlantic premiere of Robert Cohen’s “Alzheimer’s Stories” under the baton of guest conductor, Bruce Rogers! The concert will be held at Goucher College as part of a whole weekend of Alzheimer awareness activities including a pre-concert Alzheimer Awareness Forum. Don’t miss this extraordinary event!
