Join our Choir
The Deer Creek Chorale was established to provide an opportunity for choral artistry, community service, and personal enrichment. The Chorale seeks to develop the potential of singers at all levels of experience.
To support our mission, the Deer Creek Chorale will:
- Invite interested mature singers of all generations (15 yr. or older) to join without audition.
- Meet weekly during the season for rehearsals to learn and polish the techniques of choral singing.
- Sing repertoire from a wide variety of cultures, periods, and styles.
- Provide opportunities to work with renowned/accomplished guest clinicians as funds permit.
- Present two concerts per season, with additional optional performances.
- Contribute to the general welfare of our local and global community through annual charitable partner activities.
- Build camaraderie and community within the Chorale.
- Pursue excellence in all of the above.
This is such a challenging time for the arts. The DCC and its choirs have a plan to navigate these turbulent waters but need your support and understanding.
Because of continued uncertainty about safety, the board has decided to suspend in-person rehearsals for the Fall and resume sectional rehearsals January 20th if conditions allow. The three major spring concerts are set for March 27th, May 1 and May 2nd. In the meantime, artistic staff is planning for musicianship activities and score study of the Mozart Requiem. Other engaging projects: a weekly member spotlight series, a past performance gallery, and another virtual choir project. We hope to do small group river walks led by the Gunpowder Riverkeeper to continue support of our charitable partner.
The choirs had no revenue from Spring concerts and will have none for Fall. The Board is determined to pay our administrative and professional artistic staff. We still must pay rent, bookkeeping, accounting, virtual choir production costs, and licensing fees. State and local funding agencies expect us to make plans and carry on. We have applied for emergency funds and that will support eligibility for the next funding cycle. Our committed goal is to keep DCC choirs going!
We are asking members to continue supporting the choirs by paying 2020/2021 membership dues ($150.00 same as last year). No music fee. This will help keep our organization solvent and our administrative and artistic staff paid. Please stay with us.
Dues may be paid online one of three ways
Option A: Full payment due September 1
Option B: 3 installment payments of $50 each due Sept. 1, Oct 1, Nov 1
Option C: Dues assistance from the Banghart Scholarship fund, dedicated this season to help those members dealing with serious financial impact due to the CoVid19 crisis. No application necessary. (A member of the scholarship committee will contact you confidentially).
There will be an additional online option for those who would like to contribute to the Banghart Scholarship fund to support fellow singers financially impacted by the CoVid19 crisis.
Following registration, you will receive a digital copy of the marked Mozart score. Learning files will be available in the Fall. Stay positive and hopeful that the joys of making music together will return soon.
Think positive thoughts for a vaccine and the discovery of new treatments to eradicate this dreaded virus. We all miss singing together and have been uplifted by the loyalty and support of our members and singers. Please reach out to a Board Member if you have any questions.
