01/11/2021 – Spring Semester starts THURSDAY!

Dear DCYC Families,

Happy New Year! I am so excited to see all of our singers on Thursday! I’m thrilled to welcome a few new singers who will join us for the first time on Thursday, and some who are returning after a brief hiatus this fall.

I’m also excited to officially welcome our new Deer Creek Chorale & Youth Choir Administrator, Melissa Sweeney. Melissa began in December and we are so excited to have her with us. We also welcomed Steph Davis as DCC Board president as of January 1st and we are incredibly grateful for her leadership and willingness to serve. Steph has sung with the Chorale for many years and recently retired from a long career in fundraising at Johns Hopkins Hospital.

Thank you for your patience as I compiled our rehearsal choir sections. There are so many factors and things to consider and it was a bigger puzzle than I anticipated! Rehearsal Time assignments are listed below. We will begin combined rehearsals outside as the weather permits.

Important Rehearsal Reminders:

Rehearsals are held at Bethel Presbyterian Church, 4135 Norrisville Rd, White Hall MD.
Singers should bring their “Singer’s Mask” they received in December & their DCYC Music folder (new singers will receive these at our first rehearsal)
Singers should also bring a water bottle & a pencil. Please no snacks/outside food this spring.
An updated calendar is attached as well as the DCYC emergency form. Please send in a new form if there are any contact/health changes for your child.

DCYC Rehearsal Parent Volunteer Sign-Up
We are in need of one parent volunteer to assist at our rehearsals each week. Our parent volunteer will help with check-in (temperature scans & attendance) as well as rehearsal support (music collection/organizing). Parent Volunteers are asked to be present 15 minutes early. Thank you for your help in ensuring our rehearsals run smoothly & safely this spring. You can sign up here:

Singing Safely!
Attached is a document outlining the protocols and procedures in place to ensure our DCYC singers’ safety as we rehearse indoors this spring. We have closely followed and considered the results from various studies from the top professional music organizations & universities as we have planned our season. Our singers are our #1 priority. We are doing everything we can to find ways to SING SAFELY and we greatly appreciate your support of DCYC and your child’s vocal music education in these difficult times. THIS SPRING – Participate Virtually! If you have any illness or exposure to COVID-19 – we will have an opportunity for singers to join virtually and synchronously via google meet. DCYC Virtual Rehearsal Link.
