1/20/2023 – Very important!

Good morning folks,

Due to circumstances beyond our control, we will no longer be rehearsing at Bethel Presbyterian Church. Father Joe Cochran has graciously opened the doors of the historic colonial Saint James Church in Monkton where we will have Tuesday rehearsals until we find a new home. The address is 3100 Monkton Road, Monkton 21111, up the hill from the Manor Tavern. The configuration is different so please plan to arrive by 6:45 so Greg can put you in a new seating order. Also you might want to bring additional light if you have problems seeing your music. I am not sure about the quality of the lighting at night.

Now For the rehearsal this past Tuesday. You all worked very hard and were well prepared for the assigned materials. I especially was moved by your grasp of the fourth movement of the sunrise mass. It feels like I am sitting in a hot tub looking at the stars and meditating as I hear that piece. I hope you are enjoying it as much as I am enjoying teaching it. Your German wasn’t bad but lots more consonants necessary. There are pronunciation aids on the Internet or find someone who knows German if you are having trouble. This is a warm-up piece and will be used for future auditions.

This week we move back to warm-ups on volume five numbers five, eight, nine, and 18, the Silver Swan which Is in round form. Even though most of you know it, this will be challenging. Which section will hold its own? We will soon find out!!!

Ukrainian Alleluia with Greg.
Light Beyond Shadow: concentrate on Mm. 74 to the end.
True Light auditions
Dissect Haydn’s Kyrie. Make it dance.
Spheres pp 11-14.

We will have a fun-filled rehearsal in a new, glorious space. Don’t forget hydration and pencil. Hope you have been working with your straw!!!!

Here’s to a lovely weekend. Stay safe, well, kind and SING!!!!!

Positively,
Marty
