02/11/2022 – It Might as Well be Spring
Dear folks,
Oh how I wish! Had a little Spring fever today but not to last.
Was so excited about our rehearsal on Tuesday night. We had a wonderful turnout and the basses and tenors rocked! We got a lot accomplished and I am feeling much more comfortable, especially after your excellent reading of The Awakening. What a dramatic and meaningful piece considering what we have all been through. And a special thanks to Shisa for her marvelous playing.
The plans for the March 12 festival are taking shape and you should get a schedule soon. As a reminder, we will be wearing dark pants( black or dark jeans) and our anniversary T-shirt. Contact Melissa if you still need one. They are 15.00.
This Tuesday is going to be incredibly fun as we welcome Greg to the podium. He will be warming the choir up and working on Africa. Please be ready and listen to the learning files every day. The biggest issues with this piece are the rhythm, the soprano coda section and the introduction using sound effects. After Africa, Wayne will finish up Let the River Run and I will reintroduce Unclouded Day. Please review. Also a reminder that With One Voice, Lord and Hand in Hand are to be memorized!!!
We will start with the Allegro section of the Agnus Dei and drill the melismas. Then we will work the entire Domine Jesu. Study the score markings and say the Latin words in rhythm. Really aids in the learning process. We will end the rehearsal with a read through of The Awakening.
Have a lovely weekend. Wish we were cheering for the Ravens but hopefully the game will still be a good one! Stay well, safe and singing!!!!
