03/04/2022 – Getting closer!!!

Dear folks,

Would like to start with a note from Danny. Can’t you just “ feel” his excitement?!

SO MUCH GOING ON out here. We just finished our production of the yearly musical (what an experience: imagine hundreds of cadets hooping and hollering LOUDLY for their friends throughout the show!) We have a concert right after we get back from this tour (live-streamed, and I’ll share the link with you!), then our men’s group will be performing with the Irish band High Kings the following Sunday. Then we sing for a former Defense Secretary the next week, then we have a big end of semester bash on April 20 (performing a Les Mis medley with our orchestra) the day before I drive down to MD for our event. Then after our event, I head down to DC to meet up with my choir to sing at a dinner at the National Press Club. Then we have graduation with…well, that part I might not be able to share. And then maybe I take a breath!

What a special group DCC is. I’m so excited to get to work with them. How cool to get to conduct “With One Voice” with all of your singers, my old choir, my new choir, and Diana’s group. I’m so glad it worked out this way!

And indeed, DCC is a special group. Thank you to all those who signed up to bring refreshments and to those who contributed to my birthday appeal on Facebook. I am delighted to report that I surpassed my goal of 2,000 by $100.05. These funds will help the DCC as we move forward and tackle new exciting projects. If you wish, you can still donate!😀

Now for Tuesday’s schedule. There will be No Zoom!!! We need everyone present as we finalize our festival music. And as a point of interest, the Maryland Boys Choir and Blake Clark will be in attendance.

1. Warmups from Volume #2 1-9;

Wake me a Song and Viva la musica!

2. Mozart Rex tremendae pgs. 25-27. Have you watched Amadeus yet?! If so, this movement will make your hair stand on end. Roll and explode those r’s!!

3. Work Confutatis and Agnus Dei. Keep dancing those melismas!!!

4.  Prepare pieces for festival. Put in this order: With one Voice, Let the River Run, Africa, Unclouded Day, Lord Give  me just a little more time, Hand in Hand.

In a separate email, I will send the program which you can print off and an electronic poster. Also I have a few more black masks.

Have a lovely weekend and see you on Tuesday.

Musically yours,
Marty
