04/07/2021 – Reminder: Saturday, April 17th Stream Walk with Gunpowder RiverKeeper
Dear DCYC Families,
Next Saturday, April 17th @10am is our stream walk with Gunpowder RiverKeeper (GRK). GRK was our 2020 Charitable Partner who we have continued to support this year. DCYC Singers received a GRK t-shirt in the fall (we would have worn them at our Goucher festival March 2020). Singers that joined this spring can pick one up at rehearsal this week.
Deer Creek Choirs work to bring awareness to a different charitable partner each year. This is a great opportunity for our youth to learn about a very important waterway in our community from RiverKeeper, Theaux Le Gardeur. See information below and attached. We have space for 8 more singers/parents to join us for this morning in nature. We need commitments by next Wednesday, April 14th.
We also have another opportunity to join Gunpowder RiverKeeper, to stay informed, to have the opportunity to add our voice to important waterway issues, and to consider our own behaviors that affect our water. Please see attached Membership form.
We will meet at Gunpowder State Park, 17528 Bunker Hill Rd., Parkton, MD 21120 at 10 am. The parking lot is at the end of the road . . . it’s a long road. . . and turns into one lane. I’ve attached a map that shows a turn off of York Road (you’ll see Hereford High School Field) onto Bunker Hill Road.
Please wear warm, comfortable shoes (boots if it’s been rainy) and your DCC/GRK t-shirt. Bring your face mask, garden gloves, a water bottle, and the attached Volunteer Registration Form ready to give to Theaux.
Looking forward to a beautiful day, a fun walk and lots of great education about our waterways with choir friends.
Julie
