04/23/2021 – Last official Friday missive of the pandemic season.
Good morning folks,
What a year this has been!!!! But with your support, encouragement, involvement, flexibility and positivity, we not only survived but thrived. Like the song we sang at our past Mothers Day Concert, It Takes a Village!!!! We have big challenges coming up as we return to normalcy with the future of the arts in limbo but if we could manage this year, I have full confidence that the DCC organization will reach new heights. Spread the word and as we reconvene in September, I hope to see many new faces as well as meet some of you-finally!!!
Believe it or not, next year is our 15th anniversary year and it is going to be an exciting one. We are looking for volunteers to be on the planning committee. Come join our team and experience what goes on behind the scenes. Great way to get involved!!! Please contact our president Steph Davis if you are interested. She will be thrilled!!!
Now for Tuesday’s film shoot. In spite of the challenges experienced at our rehearsal, it was such a gift to finally be together. Obviously we would all love to shed the masks but that is not in the cards. So once again, here are your reminders:
1. All black, singer mask which was made for you by Hope and her team!!!
2. Black folder-Wake, Viva, Roots, Hope, Water, How, Hand. Please be practicing and keep Hope moving!!!! Every one of these pieces speaks to the times. Let’s give them all we got!!!
3. Report at 6:45, temp, pick up corsage (special thanks to Hope and Mary Sue for making us beautiful) and take place from rehearsal. Tenors and basses are forward.
4. Piano will be amplified which should help us stay in tune.
5. Rob, our host, does not close up until 9 so we do have some wiggle room time wise.
6. Warm up on your way to the church (sirens, bubbles, solfege patterns).
Please thank Mark, Rob, Lance, Wayne and all who have made this possible. And thank you to all who supported our fundraiser at Jarrettsville Creamery. If you were unable to make it, a small donation would be much appreciated. You could give to Lance as you enter the church or donate online.
And don’t forget to support our DCYC and Ladies Six by attending the concert on May 23, 3pm at Starbright Farm. Tickets will go on sale next week.
As always, it is a privilege and blessing to hold the DCC baton!!!!!’
Gratefully,
Marty
