05/17/2021 – Important Details: “Let There Be Love”

Hi Everyone!

I can’t believe it’s concert week!  We are SO excited for our DCYC spring concert at Star Bright Farm on Sunday.  Our singers are singing SO beautifully and we can’t wait to share their voices and hard work with all of our families and friends.

The Concert Poster is in the e-mail below (feel free to erase my message and forward along to invite friends, family, music teachers, etc!) Music teachers are offered a free ticket to our concerts – they just need to e-mail me to reserve one – please encourage your child to invite their school/private/church music teacher/director.

Thank you all for sharing your feedback regarding our singers and wearing masks at Sunday’s concert.  For the safety of our singers and out of respect for each other, we will ask that all singers continue to wear masks during the concert on Sunday.  I have spoken to our singers and they are very understanding and respectful of each other and OK with this decision.  It has been such a tricky year and I can’t WAIT for a more normal season to begin this fall.

I’m waiting to hear back from the owner of Star Bright Farm – but I anticipate that masks will be optional for concert attendees given the recent changes from Gov. Hogan.

I also want to take a moment to thank all of you sincerely for trusting me and the DCC Board this year to provide safe opportunities to keep our students singing.  There are so many choirs like ours that have remained virtual all year – and I am just very grateful for the opportunity to have made music with our DCYC singers in a year when we really needed music in our lives.  While masks, time constraints on rehearsal, air exchange and distancing are all very annoying things to impose on a choir – it’s been totally worth it to hear their voices each week. Thank you – thank you – thank you!
