06/21/2022 – Good morning from Temagami!

Dear singing friends,

Happy first day of summer!!! Hope you are enjoying Canadian type weather!!! Certainly better than heat and humidity! I leave for my hiking adventure in Newfoundland tomorrow and looking forward to learning about their strong music traditions.

A couple things:

A sincere appreciation to all those who supported the first prong of our collaboration with Camp Sunrise!!! Can’t wait to see pics of the kids in their luau garb!!!!

Bravo to Mark for truly capturing the special moments on stage April 24th. The Blu-ray is spectacular with special surprises. Ray ordered a used Blu-ray player and we had musicians over for dinner two nights ago. They were blown away!!!! It could be shown on NPR Great Performances. I think there may be a few left so contact Melissa if you are interested. They should be ready soon. We are so blessed to have Mark on our team.

Registration opens July 1 on our website. Check out our season on the concert page. What an exciting lineup!!!! Your Board has voted to keep dues the same(they have been the same for 10 years) and in spite of the increase in music costs, the music fee will remain manageable. Banghart Scholarship info is on the website as well.

Newsflash! For the “A Musical Canvas” concert November 20, the board has approved two commissions. Danny is doing an arrangement of “Look to the Rainbow” and “Rainbow Connection” for DCC and DCYC for the finale. And Dr. Roy Belfield is arranging the 1933 hit “Deep Purple” for the chorale.

Your board and October 1 committee have been hard at work to facilitate our 2022-2023 season and raise the necessary funds to make it all possible. We need you to all save the date and be at the event on October 1. And please, help us collect items for the auctions. It just takes an “ask”. I asked my lawn company and they are donating 5 yards of mulch delivered. It really is easy!!!

Well that is my wrap-up for June!!! Stay tuned for more exciting news in July. In the meantime stay well, enjoy friends and family and keep your voices warmed up for Colors, Haydn, Forrest, Hampton and Ola Geilo!!!

Musically yours,
Marty
