07/21/2022 – DCYC Summer check-in!
Dear DCYC families,
I hope you are all doing well and having a fantastic summer! I miss seeing all of our singers in person, but love keeping up with many of your summer adventures on facebook 🙂
It’s been a busy summer for our family, leading music at our church’s vacation bible school, lots and lots of swim team practices and meets, other sports camps and some time away with family at the beach too 🙂 I hope that the past month has given you and your family time to enjoy your favorite parts of summer as well. I’d love to hear from you if you have a moment to share an update or some summer highlights so far!
We’ve been very busy behind the scenes this summer planning for an awesome 7th season for DCYC! We had a wonderful night of auditions in June and I’m thrilled to welcome our new singers to the DCYC family. I was fortunate to attend the national conference for Chorus America which was held in Baltimore in June, which provided for so many new ideas and possibilities for our organization. We had 5 DCYC singers who were accepted into the ACDA (American Choral Director’s Association) honor choir which will be held in conjunction with the ACDA Voices United Summer Conference at George Mason University in August. Congrats to Kayla Hartle, Liam Patterson, Callum Patterson, Addie Culotta and Claire Eby on this accomplishment!
We are also currently searching for a new Assistant Director. Ms. Emalyn has decided to take a step back from her active role with DCYC for the upcoming year to focus on her full-time music teaching position. She will continue to sing with DCC and I know we will still see her from time to time this year 🙂 We also must say “see you soon” to the Scott family including our rehearsal accompanist, Ms. Rebekah and her childrens (dcyc singers) Lauralai and Aidan, who are moving to Phoenix, AZ this summer. We wish their family all the best in this next chapter!
We are thrilled to have the opportunity to perform at the Ironbirds basbeall game on August 19th. I hope that many of you are able to join us to sing! Prospective singers are ALSO welcome — its a great opportunity to check in with some of the AMAZING friends that joined us for our Bring a Friend Night in May and invite them to come sing! We are also still auditioning new singers for the fall – please share the attached flyer via e-mail and social media and help us spread the word.
Please don’t forget to RSVP for the Ironbirda and submit your ticket payment by August 1st! Everyone that needs a seat needs a ticket (including singers and even me 
).
Once I have the final list of singers, I’ll be in touch with music, harmony part assignments and practice recordings.

Friday, August 19 | 7pm game | 6pm call time | DCYC Performs the National Anthem at the Ironbirds. Join us to perform the national anthem, enjoy the game and stay for FIREWORKS! Reserved Tickets $15 and purchased through DCYC. RSVP & ticket payment must be received by August 1st!
We will be opening up registration for the 2022-2023 DCYC Season on August 1st. We are excited to share that we will be using a new website called Chorus Connection to help keep everything DCYC in one place (e-mails, tuition & uniform payments, practice recordings, documents, message boards & the ability to connect with other DCYC parents/singers, etc). I will be in touch soon with the entire 2022-2023 Season Calendar, but in the meantime, please save these dates:

Thursday, September 1 | 6-7:30pm | Welcome Potluck & Music Pick up Night for DCYC Singers and their families. Potluck dinner, Parent Meeting, Music Pick-Up and Uniform sizing @ Bethel Presbyterian Church.
Thursday, September 8 | DCYC Rehearsals begin! Jubilate (2nd-5th grade) 5:15-6:30pm and Vivace (6th-9th grade) 6:45-8pm @ Bethel Presbyterian
Saturday October 1 | 3-6pm | Deer Creek’s annual fundraiser: Celebrating Song in the Country | DCYC performs – Call time 2:30pm. Afternoon of music, food, silent auction. Featuring special guest band: Charm City Junction.
Thursday, October 27 | 5:45-8pm | Singing & S’mores at Bethel Presbyterian – ALL singers join for a combined rehearsal at 5:30pm followed by our annual bonfire social at 7pm.
Sunday, November 21 | 4pm | Deer Creek Choirs present A Musical Canvas – an immersive concert experience featuring Deer Creek Chorale & Youth Choir. St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Hickory. MD. Ticketed. Call time 2:45pm. Formal Concert Attire.
Sunday, December 11 | 4pm | DCYC Vivace guest choir at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Gaudete Concert , Cockeysville. Free. (Donations Accepted) Vivace Only. Formal Concert Attire
