09/24/2021 – Good evening after a perfect Autumn day!!

Dear Singers,

What a week this has been!  Before I write anything more, I wanted to share this report from Governor Hogan:

This week, Maryland reported the nation’s lowest COVID-19 case rate, and we continue to withstand the Delta variant surge better than just about any other state. But we cannot afford to be complacent.

I want to again thank the millions of Marylanders who have rolled up their sleeves to get vaccinated. Our state has had one of the strongest health and economic recoveries in the nation by following the science and leading the way, which is exactly what we will continue to do.

This is such encouraging news and I am proud of our state. Let’s all remain vigilant and maybe the time will come soon when we can sing with abandon!!! In case you may be interested, I have been using the natural sinus rinse XLEAR. There have been studies that its contents including Xylitol fight the Covid germs. My whole family has been using the product and are very pleased. And it helps with allergies.

Some important announcements:

1. Everyone should have copies of Wake me a Song and Viva Tutti. If not please see Donna on Tuesday (her last week helping with music)

2. If any of you attempted to purchase tickets for October 2 the last 24 hours, the site was down but is now functioning. It is going to be a gorgeous day in the country and I hope you will join in the magic. Thank you to those who have purchased/sold tickets. We need everyone’s help to make our goal.

3.  Saturday at First Fruits Farm promises to be a fun harvesting activity and a way to give back. Since the DCC’s formation in 2007, we have had a dual mission of choral artistry and community service. From building houses for Habitat for Humanity to sponsoring young Masai to go to secondary school in Kenya, our choristers have done amazing things. And harvesting root vegetables for food banks in our state is another of our service projects which I hope all can embrace. If not tomorrow, then October 16th. Just have to fill out the simple waiver.

4. This Tuesday bring Volume 2 of the warmups and we will do #20 and 18. We will finish For the Fruits, review In Paradisum and The Earth Provides and Wayne will introduce I am in Need of Music.

And I have two excellent movies to recommend. Military Wives is based on true events and has become an international movement. And tonight watched Best Seller, a new film with Michael Caine. Wow!!!

See many of you tomorrow in the field. Otherwise stay well, practice and see you Tuesday!!!!

Gratefully
Marty
