1/01/2023 – Happy New Year!!!
Dear folks,
I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season and heard/sang some beautiful music. With our schedule designed in such a way, it provides you time to enjoy the available concerts/events and share your gift of music with family and friends.
But as of January 10th, we begin our exciting Spring semester delving into two major works of great timeliness. Haydn’s Mass in Time of War was written in 1796 as Napoleon was invading Austria. It is difficult to comprehend the same type of incursion in this day and age with Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. And we originally were scheduled to perform The Sunrise Mass in April of 2020 with Dr. Arian Khaefi but the pandemic happened. Now we will be bringing attention to our collaborative partner Camp Sunrise as we finally bring this glorious work to fruition.
The Spring syllabus is now available on the member page as well as performances of our Spring repertoire. PLEASE devote some time in preparation for the first rehearsal. Let it be an energetic celebration of the new musical adventure we are embarking on!!!
Make sure your measures are numbered in the Mass and you always have hydration and a sharpened pencil!!
Spring registration is open and we are hoping for some additional basses who have a prominent role in the Mass. Help us recruit!!! And of course all parts are welcome.
Don’t forget when ordering from Amazon, please use the DCC smile account. Every little bit helps. And a huge thank you to those who donated to the DCC. It is never too late. And let’s keep building our social media platforms. Share, invite, copy. If I can do it, so can you!
Here’s wishing you a happy and healthy new year. For many, 2022 had its extra challenges but through it all, music was our friend and inspiration. May it always provide that much needed nourishment for our souls.
Look forward to seeing you on the 10th!
Gratefully,
Marty
