10/07/2022 – A good day.

Dear friends,

You truly lifted my spirits at Tuesday’s rehearsal and I am thrilled to report that we got a call from our contractor today and he was able to put a tarp on our roof. At the end of this message I have included a couple pictures. We lost the chimney and so many other damages but the most important thing was sealing up the roof before the rains come. Ray is driving to Florida tomorrow and will be able to get out to the island on Monday by boat to assess the damages and meet with the insurance adjuster. He will then head home. I want to thank all of you for your thoughts, prayers and virtual hugs. They have meant the world to us. Sanibel Strong!!!!
Our upcoming rehearsal is such an important one. As I told you, Joan Hodous will be attending our rehearsal and sharing with us the story of her creation which will then be auctioned off at our concert. I am so excited for you to meet her. She is truly a treasure!
Please be prepared with your warm-ups which  I hope you have put into a separate folder. Because you sing O Love  so beautifully and it is such a meaningful piece, we will once again warm up with it.
Be super prepared for meas. 35-52 of True Colors and then we will put together and sing through the entire piece. 🤞
Study the Rainbow Connection, Deep Purple  and review The Silver Swan.
And the Highlight of the night will be working on the Blue Ridge. Please work extra hard on preparation so that Joan can get a real idea of the beauty and meaning of the composition.
Tickets are now on sale for the November 20 concert. Make sure you take a flyer on Tuesday.
I want to share with you Danny’s note and pics which I received today. Danny has been a huge friend of the DCC for many years and we certainly miss him. As a farewell gift, we gave him two containers which we purchased from Ladew Gardens. I wanted you to see them.
Here is the note:
Jenika’s first arrangements with the pots DCC got us. These are all dahlias from her new garden she planted late this summer, and it’s finally blooming!
Have a lovely weekend. Stay well and practice!!!!!!!
Positively,
Marty
