10/13/2022 – Evening missive before departure

Dear folks,

I wanted to write you before I leave tomorrow for Berlin, Prague and Vienna with the Baltimore Choral arts. I am so excited that 11 of us will be joining in this concert tour. I am sure we will have many stories to share upon our return.

What a fun rehearsal on Tuesday! You are all working very hard on your warm-ups and our solfege is getting progressively better. Keep it up. This week you will be working from volume four numbers 7, 8, 11 and 12. Look at them before next week and practice count singing and solfege. Also review Africa which we never got to perform last year. We worked so hard but as you remember, the festival got snowed out. Greg posted the learning files under warm-ups. Newcomers, it is fun but challenging!!!

October 18 marks the middle of the semester and by the end of the evening, you should have a firm grip on all the music for the concert except Blue Skies which we will do on October 25. Also on that date, I will audition for the solos for true colors and look to the rainbow. Please let me know if you are interested in auditioning.

So excited that our event has been rescheduled for November 13. If you already purchased tickets, you are all set. If you have not and want to go to this very special afternoon of music, you may purchase them from Lance at rehearsal or online on our website. There are a limited number left so don’t dally.

Tickets are also on sale for the November 20th concert. Use the flyer to invite your friends and family for a very unique concert. A special thanks to Joan for sharing her story about the process of creating her masterpiece. She is indeed a treasure to us all.

And in closing I wanted to update you on Sanibel. Ray was there last Wednesday and even though there’s much damage, we are determined to rebuild. The picture below you might’ve seen. A convoy of 500 lineman are ready to cross the causeway. It was quite a scene! They are hoping to have electric back on the island by December 16.
In closing, work hard, stay well, spread the word about our upcoming events and be ready to rock ‘n’ roll for Dr. Maclary on November 1.
Positively,
Marty
