10/13/2023 – We’re singing and dancing in the rain!

Good morning folks,

Very excited about the big band in the barn. Going to have a blast no matter what. Great food, wine pull, silent auction, great music, and camaraderie, doesn’t get any better! Again, thank you to all who have participated in some way and to our amazing committee.

Now for our strategy for the next 5 weeks. Our concert is coming fast. We are on target to have an incredible performance. So here is the plan for Tuesday.

Warmups 13, 14 with Solfegg, and 15 (NO. Peace from Away this week)

THREADS OF JOY; Measures 1-37. Auditions next week.

Run Fabric of Gratitude and Jubilate Deo (Michael)

Dig into finishing the Stroope and Bernstein. Have given you extra time to nail down your notes/rhythms/text/dynamics so let’s make them shine!

!000 BEAUTIFUL THINGS; will start at measure 46. Not much text since the DCYC will be doing the solo work. Should be able to learn this quickly. Except for a couple of places, the choir is the accompaniment.
THE TIMES ARE A-CHANGIN’: Once again, not difficult but the challenge is bringing emotion to the text and grasping the meter changes. I will hold auditions for this next week.

Measure me, Sky (Greg) review problem spots and once again, get into the text. That is what choral music is all about.

If time, will run the other pieces with soloists.

As you can see, we will be working hard and rehearsal will move quickly. Keep hydrated, pencil close at hand (may I suggest behind the ear for easy accessibility) Also for folks having problems seeing with low light, purchase a reading light to put on the folder. Please arrive on time and ready to go. Would help if you put your music in this order. Or like some folks, use tabs. It is VERY IMPORTANT that you prioritize being at rehearsals unless, of course, you are sick.

Some other reminders:

Online auction ends on the 21st. Been so much fun. The pickup of items will be the 24th rehearsal.

Harvest party after the October 31 rehearsal thanks to your board of directors. A chance to celebrate, meet new folks, and enjoy some Fall treats.

Stay well, enjoy practicing, and see you soon.

Gratefully,
Marty
