10/18/2024 – Get ready for a jam packed rehearsal!!!
Dear friends,
I hope you are having a good week and taking time to prepare for our next rehearsal. We have a lot to accomplish and the better prepared you are, the more fun it will be.
#6 Please bless our food: note that it is in GMajor and since we use the movable do system, the first note would be so. Please write the solfege in since this uses intervals not in the arpeggio.
God bless our native land: sing with gusto, dynamics, and clear diction.
Challenge of the week: Peace; come away. Even though I am treating this as a warm-up, it has so many interesting elements to it. You will notice that each line has its own intervallic challenges and rhythmic interest. I will be curious to see how far we can get before a derailment. It all depends on if you know your individual part. Most of you will know the last 10 measures. Good luck!
Hand in Hand memorized
Finish Daniel! We will begin at meas. 41. Lots of Divisi, but very repetitive. It is all about energy and crispness. Very similar to the style of ride the chariot. We will be doing in cut time.
Hands with soloists. Please be ready. Everyone use a dah. We will refine the vowel treatment later.
Clap Yo’ Hands: do you have it now? Can at least half of you memorize so you can be our clappers? Once again, the lyrics are not difficult and they repeat.
With Heart and Hands: As you know, Rutter’s music is very accessible and singable. We will be asking for audience participation at the end. Apply all of the musical elements to the performance of this straightforward piece and it will be most beautiful. We will plan to do this with organ.
If time, we will finish with the Stroope piece. Remember, once a piece is introduced, you need to continually review so that each time we perform it in rehearsal, it will be better.
Once again, thanks to all for their hard work on the Inform and inspire event; to those who have signed up for the blessing bags for Chestnut Grove; to the countless hours spent on the online auction and to all who bid; to those gathering ads for our written program. You know how the village works! It takes all of us!
For those of you interested in ordering DCC clothing, the shop is now open until November. Here is the link Graphix Haus | Promotional Products & Apparel | Cockeysville, MD (graphixhauspromo.com). This is of special interest to our new singers considering this is their first chance to purchase our stylish apparel!
Here’s to a beautiful Fall weekend! Practice outside soaking in the sunshine. Stay healthy and count your blessings.
