11/01/2024 – Another stunner!

Good afternoon folks,

Now Tuesday was a great rehearsal! Special congrats to the basses  for perfect attendance and to the tenor 1’s for all being there. Hand in Hand was rocking! Thank you for your hard work and keep it up. We have two more weeks to dig and perfect. Tickets will go on sale Online soon and paper tickets will be available on Tuesday night. Let’s sell the place out! Melissa will let you know when the link on our website is ready.

Now Tuesday’s rehearsal:

Warm-ups #8 Key of C and in compound time.
Solfege patterns, including the chromatic scale
Peace, come away (I apologize to those of you who really worked on it and were ready last week. You can prove it this week)
Hold fast to dreams

As we do the following pieces, please come with any questions you might have so we can address problem spots and use our time efficiently.

Precious Lord- when you practice at home, pretend you are in a circle and there is no conductor and you are just singing the piece like a meditation. Please  refer to the video that I sent last week. I would like to do some of the effects that the Aeolians do!

Hands with the video from Dr. Stroope.  Sing with clear articulation and soaring dynamics.

Hagen’s Hands-review the tutti parts and then combine with soloists. Would love to see your faces as you sing this on da. No words to memorize.

Clap Yo’ Hands-those that can memorize, please put down your folder so you can clap at the designated spots. This is fun and we want the audience to feel like dancing.

Didn’t my Lord deliver Daniel-I am sending you the recording that I would like you to study and it is on the learning files.  I like the beginning slow and emotional and then break into the cut time with gusto and accented beats, especially in the bass and tenor sections. Practice on a doot!

Review An Irish Blessing. Julie will be conducting.

He’s got the whole world – this is the finale and should sound like one!

This semester has flown by and I have enjoyed working on a plethora of contrasting styles. Each one requires its own character. Keep that in mind as you practice.

In closing, I had to send this cartoon. I couldn’t stop laughing!!!

Stay well, practice, invite, and drink lots of water.

And BCA is performing at the Cathedral the Durufle Requiem on Sunday at 3:00. Good luck to Beth, Ryan, Louis and Adam.

Warmly,
Marty
