11/11/2022 – Important late Friday missive

Dear friends,

Sorry for the delay but I had the privilege of playing with my granddaughter all afternoon and evening and I was distracted!

What a big weekend coming up! I can’t thank the fundraising committee enough for all of their hard work and to the Sotir’s for hosting us at Silo hill. It is going to be a grand event and I look forward to seeing many of you there. Also the Ladies Six will be performing tomorrow night at the Manor Mill in Monkton. I do believe there are a few tickets left which can be purchased on their website.

Rehearsal went well on Tuesday. I was pleased even though we really missed Greg and hope he’s feeling better. We need him! Thanks to Blair for helping out at the last minute. I think we’re almost ready if you put in some quality practice time at home with the learning files. The more familiar you are with the words, the phrasing, the syllabic stress and dynamics, the more you will enjoy the performance. This music is fun, joyful, toe-tapping and your faces need to reflect that.

Plan on being at Saint Ignatius in Hickory no later than 7 PM on Tuesday night. Please wear your colored shirts and have your Music in order in a black folder. You can bring water. We will begin with the combined pieces and then run the program. Reserve until 10pm but if all goes well, we should be finished beforehand.

Tickets will be available Sunday, Tuesday and online. Purchased at the door carries a surcharge. Let’s fill the place. A reminder of how gorgeous a venue it is.

And a bit of humor from Roy!

But of course this isn’t possible!!!!

I want to congratulate the folks who had perfect attendance this semester.

Soprano: Marcia Boccia, Laurie Woodburn, Louise Ballard, Susana Goff, Kate Leventhal, Mary Sue Shaw and Cherie Patterson.

Alto: Lynn Moore, Barb Waite, Sue Hill, Sharon Kachur, Meredith LeRoy, Miriam Long

Tenor: David Dasch, Lila Straight

Bass: Jeff Koerber, Jeff Roemer

And the tenors had perfect attendance for two rehearsals and basses for one.

It makes such a difference when we have everyone there!!!

As I said on Tuesday, the rehearsal process to me is the most meaningful and transformational. Performance is when we get to share with our friends and families our love for the choral art. It is a privilege to be a part of this amazing group of people.

Stay well, be joyful, enjoy the last vestiges of Fall and PRACTICE!!

Gratefully
Marty
