11/12/2021 – What a night sky!!!
Dear Folks,
This past week has certainly showcased nature’s beauty. What a beautiful part of the world we inhabit! Makes me want to sing about God’s creation and that is exactly what we are doing!!!
Wonderful rehearsal on Tuesday. So much was accomplished and if we all time it right with adequate practice and score study, we should peak on November 21st. Many important people will be attending (our family and friends) and I am hopeful for rousing applause if we deliver!!!
What needs work:
Promise of Living-men’s section and the following dominant alto part. Last chord will be 12 beats, not 16.
In Paradisum-eyes glued on me. All about dynamics, ebb and flow.
Unclouded Day-faster, spunky, crisp diction, body energy.
Abendlied-stronger 2nd soprano and tenor 1, again dynamics especially the swells. Think of the gorgeous sunsets you have seen recently when you sing this.
I am in Need of Music-glottals, watch Wayne, make beautiful lines and internalize the text.
To My Old Brown Earth-try not to cry.
The Earth Provides-breathe early, prepare for entrances, you are communicating an important message, dynamics (you need to follow what is written), enjoy the experience of interpreting original art, make Preston beam!!!
For the Fruits-set the stage, tell a story, look up especially on the last page, rich resonance, do not over sing, passion and gratitude in your portrayal of the text.
Sing-enjoy once again being all together in our amazing choral family.
About Tuesday, we will start promptly at 7 finding placement with the youth and performing Sing. Our encore will be asking audience to join from beginning to rehearsal E of Sing.
We will then run the program. Plan on 9:30 just in case.
Must wear our matching singer masks for the concert. They wash up beautifully. Again thanks to Hope and our sewers.
Even though this is a dress rehearsal, you need not wear concert dress. I trust you to be elegant the day of the concert.
Tickets online and available at rehearsal and at the door.
Are you ready? Music in order in a black folder? Let’s do it!!!! See you Tuesday.
Positively,
Marty
