11/14/2025 – Very excited!

Good morning on this beautiful Friday,
My missive will be very short today. We are approaching concert time, and I can feel the excitement in the air!

Tuesday’s rehearsal was such fun and the second run through of When icicles felt pretty solid. It is all about preparation and breathing early as you approach a phrase. And of course, diction and communication of the text and having the story on your face. Hopefully you circled any of your own problems with rhythms or pitches and will visit those before Tuesday dress rehearsal.

Please plan to arrive at Saint Ignatius Catholic Church in Hickory by 6:45 so we will be ready to go promptly at 7:00. We will rehearse with the children first and then run the Rutter twice through. The main thing is getting used to acoustics.

A reminder about concert dress for November 23. All black. Women, you will get a special scarf the day of the program from Suzanne. Huge thanks to her for making us look beautifully uniform. Men, black tie.

If you have any donations for the Humane Society, you can bring them on Tuesday. Please personally invite your friends, neighbors, colleagues, and family to the program. It is going to be loads of fun.

That is it for me. At my voice lesson this past Saturday, Ruth gave me this article to share with you. For parents and grandparents, it is a real message that we already know about, but it is important to share.

Have a great weekend, stay healthy, practice, and see you on Tuesday!

Musical hugs,
Marty
