11/19/2021 – Two days before “kick-off”!!!
Good morning dear singers,
After two years of virtual singing, we are about to have an audience!!!! I hope you are as excited as I am! The dress rehearsal was shaky at first but as you acclimated to the space and sound, your confidence built and it was heavenly. The sounds of In Paradisum and the second run-through of the Copland stayed with me well in to the middle of the night!!! Julie just reported that the DCYC had a great rehearsal last night! Let’s hope we all peak at 4:00 on Sunday!!!
Final preparations:
Sing through your music twice daily, especially the ones where you are hesitant with entrances and the words are muddy. The more you can free yourself from looking at the score, the better. Hold your folder so that you do not have to put your head down, just your eyes.
I know the masks make it challenging. I am singing three pieces with you and my glasses keep fogging up. They are warm BUT your health and safety are paramount. Once everyone gets a booster, we will hopefully shed the masks in the new year but it all depends on numbers.
Ladies: concert gown/long black dress, comfortable black shoes, nude stockings, pearls, hair back, a bit of eye makeup to make them pop, stud or no earrings. No perfume.
Basses/tenors: tuxedo with black bow tie/all black with black tie, black shoes and socks.
Report to your seats with your stuff(only water, music folder, program) by 2:45. We will start with Sing and do a run through of Preston’s piece. Then at least start everything. Doors will open by 3:40.
Tickets!!!!!!!! Invite your friends and family. Tickets will be available at the door for an up charge.
Mark will be filming so we can capture every morsel of this LIVE performance.
And in case you would like to reminisce with me, here is my interview with Chris Potts. This project was a lot of fun!!!
Okay gang, here we go. See you soon. Sing away but the most important thing is to have FUN and to bring joy to your audience and to yourself!!!! You certainly bring joy to me and for that, I continue to be grateful!!!!
Positively
Marty
