11/7/2024 – Countdown to takeoff!

Dear singers,

I am sending this a day early so you can get organized. Great rehearsal on Tuesday. Feel like we are getting closer. It all depends on how much practice time you put in. Even if you think you know everything, you should be reviewing every day and becoming even more familiar so you can internalize the text and sing with controlled abandon! Pay special attention to the pieces we did not do on Tuesday and the Stacey Gibbs spiritual. Also, it would be fabulous if the Stroope piece was semi memorized so you could be out of the music and communicating with the audience. This will be professionally recorded/videotaped and will be sent to the publisher for release January 2025.

For Tuesday, we will warm up briefly with number nine of the rounds and if ye love me. Then we will run the program once through and revisit those pieces that still need our attention. Here is the order.

Hand-in-hand (memorized. Will be walking and engaging with the audience)

Oh clap, your hands (with organ)

Precious Lord

Hands are Knockin’ (with jembe)

Hands by Stroope (with video and youth)

Jubilate

Vivace

Combined DCYC

Hands by Hagen (soloists forward and very few cues from me)

Clap yo’ hands

Didn’t my Lord deliver Daniel

With heart and hands (with organ and audience)

Combined

He’s got the whole world

An Irish blessing

Women: dressy black with pearls and long sleeves/skirts/pants

Men: all dress black with (black tie. If uncomfortable for singing, optional).
