12/06/2019 – Greetings from Sanibel!

Good Evening Folks,

Jeff and Kim Roemer arrived this afternoon bringing a taste of DCC with them!!! Great to have them here for the weekend (Farm to Table silent auction item). About to experience the famous Luminary night here on the island.

I have spent the last few days working on music and organizing the syllabus for next semester. It should be available soon. As I listen to the Sunrise Mass and watch the sunrise over the Gulf, I am very excited to experience this work with you culminating in the performance with Arian Khaefi on May 3. So much to look forward to.

In the words of the new president of the board of Chorus America ” every choir has shaped me musically and as a person. I’m learning to collaborate with others, to work hard and solve problems, to make connections and community, to literally breathe with others and create something moving in the world that wasn’t there moments ago, to try as best we can to make beauty. That’s what choral singing is and does, along with a host of other reasons why it’s so formative for so many of us. And why I feel it’s so important for our country today. I love the breathtaking beauty or thrill of the music, of course, but also the community of those who make it, those brave enough to open their hearts and throats and share this with others.” This certainly reflects my feelings and why the DCC organization is so important to me. I feel privileged to create musical moments with YOU!

Our board president, Cris, will be sending out a member survey. I ask that you complete this. We are hoping for 100% participation.

Melissa will be updating the online directory soon. On the member page, it is under ‘rosters”. It is a great reference for card sending, arranging rides, discussing music, getting to know folks,etc.

At this point I have 5 signed up for the musicianship classes. I need a minimum of 10 to make it happen. I guarantee it will be fun, helpful and give you a boost up with the new music.

The DVD’s should be available next week. Melissa will be sending out the information on how to order. I can’t wait!!!!!

Here’s hoping that your holiday activities and preparations are going well. I miss our Tuesday nights together. On January 14th we begin a new adventure.
