12/30/2020 – Thank you for my tenure as DCC President (from Cris Martin)
Dear members and friends,
I can hardly believe I have served three years as DCC President. What a wonderful learning experience it has been and what a roller-coaster as we continue to negotiate COVID. Please know that your board of directors have continually worked behind the scenes to communicate with other organizations around the state, to seek emergency funding in lieu of performance profits, and to maintain community presence and artistic relevance as we find new ways to sing and perform.
I believe now than ever before that we have a balanced and talented board focused on giving back to this organization. I cannot thank our board members enough and I applaud their efforts. Our artistic staff has propelled us to online performing that we had never thought of. We are blessed. A new strategic plan in the works will promote sustainability and growth while we continue efforts towards community outreach. We are strong as an organization, both fiscally and in spirit. I look forward to a renewed camaraderie when we can sing together again.
As many of you know we have hired a new Choir Administrator. Melissa Sweeney has strong ties in our community and a background in marketing, administrative leadership, and attention to detail from her experience working with Mid-Atlantic Media. She holds a bachelor’s in communication and a Masters in Higher Ed and was drawn to the DCC by our strong service component. She is inspired to help us strengthen our impact in the community and beyond. If you haven’t already, please introduce yourself to msweeney@deercreekchorale.org.
Thank you again for allowing me to be of service. I plan to remain on the board and am looking forward to working closely with Stephanie Davis as she takes us to a new level. Who knows what awaits us? Many good things, I have no doubt. I miss you.
Here’s to new beginnings!
Cris Martin
