2/10/2023 – Happy Super Bowl Weekend

Dear friends,

Once again, you worked hard and as a result, the rehearsal on Tuesday was electrifying. We got a lot accomplished, and some gorgeous timbres emanated from the room. I am very pleased with your progress and except for the section in the credo page 46 to 50, we are right on target.

This Tuesday, I am excited to report that we may have some visitors. Michael extended an invitation to his choristers to join us in the Haydn and to his delight, he got some interest. He will order music for them, and they will be joining us for rehearsals. For the actual performance on April 30, we will have approximately 110 singers for the Sunrise mass and 85 for the Haydn. It will be glorious and lots of voices to stagger breathe!

Next rehearsal, be ready for warmups 4,8 and 9 from V 5. Write in solfege if you need to. Review Ukrainian Alleluia and spend some serious time on the coda section in Africa. It is such a fun piece to rock out on and we will do just that on April 1. The rest of the rehearsal will be spent on the two Masses. Michael will delve deeply into the Sunrise Mass. This is an added bonus since he will be the conductor. Please spend quality time on the Haydn Credo pp. 37-50. Bring plenty of hydration, pencil and a light if you need it. AND there will be a Valentine surprise when you arrive!!!

The times for the April 1 festival are noon to 4:30. The free concert starts at 3:00. It will be such a joy to sing for other choirs and to hear them as well.

Put March 5, 3pm at St. James on your calendar. The Chamber Choir will present a concert and if Wednesday’s rehearsal is a preview, WOW!!!

And Roy thinks you might get a kick out of the following:

Here’s wishing you a wonderful weekend, stay healthy, laugh a lot, and practice!!!!
Musical hugs,
Marty
