2/14/2025 – Happy Valentine’s Day! Read on and take note!
Dear friends,
Firstly, thank you for your participation on Tuesday and for Greg and Melissa’s leadership I was able to listen to the rehearsal on Wednesday and if everyone took personal note of places that needed work, the evening was a success!
Before going on with the plan for Tuesday, I wanted to reiterate the logistics and programming for our upcoming concerts. Please save.
March 2, 2:00 Chamber Choir concert at Saint James Church, Monkton, reception to follow. Please support your fellow singers and spread the word. No tickets required.
March 7, 7 to 9:45 PM at Bel Air high school – dress rehearsal with the Susquehanna Symphony
March 8, 12 o’clock to 4:30 PM with free concert at 3 PM at Goucher College.
Our set: Didn’t My Lord Deliver Daniel and Hands with DCYC
Ride the Chariot, Illuminare (Michael), Hymn to the Fallen and Jubilate Deo (Sheldon)
This concert will be televised on Harford cable network.
Now for this week’s rehearsal. It looks like it will be clear, and all should make every effort to be in attendance. It is about finishing Illuminare with your conductor Michael. It is imperative that you come to rehearsal well prepared so that Michael can address markings and musical aspects of the performance. He will be holding auditions for the tenor solo in the choir room at 6:45. What a glorious solo and I hope many of you will try for it. Please email me if you are interested.
Warm-ups: Spark and breath, Ride the Chariot, Hymn to the fallen, Jubilate Deo (fix any issues)
Illuminare!!!! Be Ready!
Hopefully, when you walk out of Chestnut Grove, you will feel ready to hit the stage! We never know about weather, so take advantage of every minute together!
Want a full house on March 9th. Share the posters and Facebook event and personally invite your friends. The tickets are very inexpensive, and you get to choose seats so don’t hesitate, mate!
Now for a bit of unpleasant news. Many of you have reached out to me when I was not on the zoom call this past week. Unfortunately, Ray was diagnosed with cancer two weeks ago and upon getting the news, I flew down here to Sanibel where I will be until February 23. He meets with the oncologist on Tuesday at which time we will plan the next step. He has decided to do treatments here because of the wonderful weather and very supportive neighborhood. We are both very hopeful going forward. Once again, music will bring much joy and solace during this challenging time. I appreciate all of your love and prayers.
I miss you all and look forward to seeing you on February 25th with bells on! Stay well, keep practicing, be kind, laugh a lot and bring joy and sunshine to those you meet! We all need it.
