2/2/2024 – Great stuff!
Good evening, folks,
So many wonderful things have happened in my network lately and you have a lot to do with it! Firstly, I want to share the note that I received from Wayne after I sent the video from rehearsal.
Oh, Marty! I’m sitting here struggling to type through the tears streaming down my face. What a sweet gift!
Please tell him my DCC family how much I miss them and love them still. I’ll be at the concert in the spring! Looking forward to it!!!
“him” is a typo… Too many tears!
To have an effect on someone through our music is so heartwarming. And if you haven’t seen the Reel yet on Facebook, many folks have enjoyed that as well. The intro from Roy always sends me to another realm!
Lots of meetings behind-the-scenes continue, mainly grant writing and marketing our concerts. So many of these special events could not take place without government funding and the ask is complicated and LONG!!!
I met with Heidi today and we discussed our collaborative concerts in April. So much excitement around getting our two amazing groups of singers together in beautiful venues with inspiring guest conductors.
And what better way to celebrate the Valentine season than a concert of love songs by our own Ebb and Flow. If you have not been to the Manor Mill, Monkton, this is a perfect chance to come and see the incredible facility and support DCC members. Tickets are very limited so get yours now!!! Dine at the Manor Tavern to top it off!!! What a date!!!
Now for the plan for Tuesday.
Warmups: 6, 7, 8
As you know, it is a big rehearsal. We need everyone to rock the Ride the Chariot. A reminder that you need to dress in all black, and if you don’t have it memorized, have a cheat sheet. Melissa will be filming, and I will be directing from the side since we need a front on movie to send to Santa Barbara.
Durufle Introit: when practicing tap the continuous eighth note as was suggested last week. It does not change except for the tempo.
Will work the entire third movement. On the pages where the soprano Tessitura is way up there, don’t go there unless you can easily sustain the A. Heidi has 4 sopranos doing it. If we have 4 or 5, that will be enough.
Basses and tenor 2s, please learn the Baritone solo sections. It will be up to Heidi and Stephen how to address these.
Chariot Jubilee measures 76-122.
Love Has Broken Down the Wall: piece for Choral festival. You will receive this on Tuesday.
That is a wrap up. Practice hard. I am hoping if we get ahead of ourselves that we can take a Spring break on March 26th.
Have a great weekend!
Marty
