02/20/2021 – Marty’s Missives – Good Saturday morning!
Dear singers,
The recent snow event disrupted my mental schedule thus this Saturday missive. Hope you are staying warm and well and finally the sun is shining!!! I intend to get out there and enjoy the blue skies, crunching snow and crisp air.
This week, have a full rehearsal planned. Please practice the warmups-a little German and Latin. Hopefully you are putting in the solfege and count singing. This will greatly help in tackling our two new pieces this week. And don’t forget to practice the solfege patterns in different keys and drink lots of water two hours before rehearsal. Makes total sense!!!
Warmups 9, 10, 13 and 20.
Wake me a Song (theme of our Spring concert)
Roots (work on fluid lines and memorization)
In Paradisum (learning tracks posted. Please study the dynamic scheme and review your terminology. The markings are very clear).
Member spotlight
How Can I Keep from Singing (is it memorized yet?)
Africa (study rhythmic patterns which repeat. First and third beat syncopations. Once you get it, will seem easy.)
Stay tuned next week for some very important announcements. Your artistic team and board members continue to explore new ways to engage our choral family in these uncertain times. Thank you for believing in us. The future looks brilliant!!!
“See” you Tuesday.
Marty
