2/9/2024 – Exciting weekend ahead!
Good morning,
Per my last two emails, I don’t need to comment on the enthusiastic performance of Ride the chariot for arranger Stacey Gibbs. We will be utilizing that now as a warm-up and making sure the few issues we have, we can clear up. I will be checking parts to make sure the pitches and rhythms are accurate.
Wonderful rehearsal all around and much was accomplished. If you were absent, please make sure you get the translations for the first three movements of the Requiem.
Now for our schedule for Tuesday:
warm-ups numbers 8 and 9, Ride the chariot and 1000 beautiful things.
Focus on Movement 3. As I suggested at rehearsal, best preparation is to say the words over and over again in rhythm increasing the tempo as you become more familiar. Then work with the learning Files or at your piano. This is one of the harder movements but also extremely fun. A reminder that all basses and tenors, please learn the baritone solo part.
Chariot Jubilee measures 45- 75. Review the other sections we have drilled. I have informed Arreon that we will be ready for him after next week.
Sing through Lord, make me an instrument, With one voice and Love has broken down the wall.
I am delighted with the progress that we’re making. Melissa sent out a PDF of the poster. Please start spreading the word, and have folks put on their calendar.
And I look forward to seeing many of you tomorrow night at the Manor, Mill, Monkton. It will be very exciting and fun and there are still tickets available. Schedule Appointment with Manor Mill (as.me)
Here’s wishing all a fun-packed weekend interspersed with some targeted practice. I look forward to another productive rehearsal. Stay well, hydrate, don’t scream at the TV on Sunday and enjoy the lovely weather!
And a handy device to help with solfegging in various keys.
And a giggle before you go!!!
