3/20/2026 – Happy Spring’s arrival! Rebirth!

Dear singers,

As I sit outside on this first day of spring, I am again inspired by the transformation of nature at this time of year. I felt the same way at the rehearsal on Tuesday. By the end of our two hours with Jason, the sounds coming from the sanctuary had a new richness of tone and depth of meaning.

I asked everyone to share with me some of your takeaways from the rehearsal. At this juncture, I have heard from 37 of you and I really appreciate every word you relayed. It is not too late if you forgot. I am going to compile the list and send out to all in PDF form. I will ask you to copy and keep as a reference point as we move forward in preparation for May 3.

Here is the note I received from Jason. I will share it in its entirety.

Hi Marty,

Thanks for asking — I really enjoyed my time with the singers.

A couple of takeaways that stood out to me:

  • There’s a strong sense of focus and willingness in the group. The singers were clearly engaged and open to trying new ideas, which made the rehearsal feel productive and collaborative.
  • I was especially struck by the musical sensitivity they brought to the music — there’s a good foundation of listening and responsiveness that can really elevate the ensemble’s sound as they continue refining details.
  • You’ve built a strong sense of community and that is great to see.

Overall, it was a pleasure to work with them, and I’m excited for where they can take things next.

Thanks again for the opportunity to spend time with the group.

Now moving forward:

Warm-ups – #9 and 10

Great is Thy Faithfulness

Homeland-the entire piece

Credo from the Mass

Sing unto the Sky with Roy

Concentrate on movements 1 and 2

Learn ending of I Can Feel

Depending on attendance and how much we accomplish on Tuesday will determine whether we have a rehearsal on March 30. Everyone has been working so hard that I think we all deserve a break but I have to feel comfortable being apart  for two weeks.

Here’s wishing you a fabulous weekend. Make sure you have April 19 on your calendar and get tickets soon. This event at Manor Mill always sells out. What a great date! Fascinating venue, glorious music and maybe dinner out? Manor Tavern?

That’s it from me. See you soon.

Marty
