5/08/2025 – So excited for Saturday!
Good morning, folks,
I think we are almost ready! Firstly, I want to thank all of you who brought chairs on Tuesday, especially Luianne, who brought lots from her church. Many hands make light work and it was certainly evident on Tuesday. It was a high level and efficient rehearsal in spite of the circumstances with no risers. And the Orchestra was absolutely fabulous. Fun singing with Charm city and Goucher and on Saturday, should be full forces!
Call time on Saturday night is 5:30. Please be on the risers for the first half. We will do a short warm-up and start each piece. Also want to practice our bow!!! The rest of the singers will report at 6 o’clock at which time we will do the same for the combined Choirs. Heidi and Michael will have 20 minutes to summarize. Doors open at 6:30. After our performance, we can sit in the audience and listen to Goucher. Then there will be a 10-minute stretch at which time we will get up for the second half. This will be a fairly short concert.
Reminder, we are all in dress black with comfortable black shoes. Please do not wear any perfumes or aftershaves. All music should be in a black folder.
Now for some final suggestions from Heidi. The words for the Mozart are light, crisp, dance-like and joyful. This applies to our pieces as well. Diction can always be more pronounced. Go to the learning files and sing along with the performance from YouTube. The speed of the fugue in that performance is close to what we are doing.
As choral musicians, we have an added responsibility of communicating text. And the big challenge is getting out of the music. Michael really wants you to watch him as does any conductor! You know the Hagenberg piece. Enjoy every minute and get those goosebumps going. It will be a beautiful way to end our 18th season!
Please keep spreading the word. Hopefully tickets sales will pick up in these next couple days. Goucher’s president and wife are going to be in the audience. You never really know whose heart you might touch with your performance!
A reminder to go to the sign-up genius for the membership dinner on Tuesday night. I have some real surprises for you. You don’t want to miss it.
And finally, Ray got some really good news on Tuesday as a result of his blood work. Now we are just waiting for the bone scan. Your prayers and support are really working! For me, this performance will have an added meaning!
Stay well, practice, share, invite, and enjoy making music together!
