06/16/2021 – Choral Boot Camp…it’s FREE!
Hello all,
Congratulations again on the stupendous virtual spring concert! As my wife and I watched and listened, we couldn’t help but feel the hearts united as the voices blended so beautifully. It was a testament to the power of music to soothe, to heal, to excite, and to inspire. I can’t wait to sing again!
As we look forward to the coming season, please consider the following opportunity…it’s fun, it’s convenient, and it’s FREE! This is another offering from our friends, the Michael O’Neal Singers in Atlanta, a multi-generational choir (like us) established in 1989. Michael was a featured soloist with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Robert Shaw, and sang with Shaw’s Festival Singers for 2 seasons. He is well-known as a conductor, clinician, and soloist around the world.
Michael is presenting a 6-week “Choral Boot Camp” on YouTube beginning this Monday, but keep reading because it’s really very flexible. Here’s the blurb from their website:
The Michael O’Neal Singers will offer an ONLINE Summer Singers program entitled Choral Boot Camp, an online choral and community experience designed to help get singers’ voices in shape for the return to in-person choral singing. Consisting of six recorded YouTube rehearsal sessions premiering at 8 p.m. EDT on Monday evenings, Jun 21 – July 26, 2021, this program will provide participants the opportunity to rehearse the music and then sing well-known choral selections with pre-recorded performances by The Michael O’Neal Singers, while learning and practicing techniques to improve breath control, expand range, develop resonance, and relax the voice (among others).There is no charge for participation, although donations will be gratefully accepted to help cover expenses. All registered singers will receive links to marked scores, audio part-learning aids, and rehearsal suggestions.
Please note that even if you can’t join at the designated time on Monday (or any of the Mondays, for that matter), you will still receive the link so that you can watch it at your own convenience and still get the benefits!
