9/15/2023 – First Friday Missive of our 17th season. Please read to the end!

Dear Choristers,

It was so great to be back together on Tuesday night! So much was done over the summer to make our first rehearsal, seamless and full of singing! It is so exciting to welcome our new singers and look forward to producing beautiful concerts and sharing our time and treasures with Lasos, our collaborative partner. If you missed our welcome back dinner, when Melinda, the representative from Lasos spoke, be expecting a description of what you can do to help. Sharon (alto and secretary) will be sharing that soon.

What can you all do to help right now so that our season begins with a splash! Firstly, if you are on Facebook, invite all of your friends and family to like Deer Creek Chorale, subscribe to our YouTube channel, like us on Instagram and send out updates and invitations often through your social media connections. We are also on LinkedIn. It is the way of our world whether we like it or not!!!

Get your tickets now for our incredible event coming up on October 14 at Starbright Lavender farm. You do not want to miss this special afternoon of music, dance, good food and commraderie in a gorgeous setting.  Please get the word out and let’s have a sell-out!!!There will also be an online auction which you can distribute far and wide. Not to be corny but It takes a village to support a Choir!

Now for music. The schedule for Tuesday’s rehearsal is below. Please prepare, bring a sharpened pencil and hydration, and be flexible in your seating because of the number of sopranos, I may be changing a few of you. It all depends on our balance going forward.

Warm-ups: volume 2 exercises, 1-3; volume six exercise 4. You are in the key (scale of) F major so do =F. Please write in the solfege (Italian system used to identify pitches). The first note is sol. That should help you get started but don’t worry, we will go over it.

But Thanks be to God: Swing on doots. Make it light and dance like. Be aware of the steplike entrances and where you fit into the puzzle.

Canto que Amabas: Everyone will learn the melody meas. 1-11 in soprano since you will all have it at some time. Will work measures 1-25.

Bernstein: number measures. Start at 58-end. T2 take the B1 part and all basses on the bottom. All sopranos sing the 2nd part. No one else divides.

Enjoy learning Fabric of Gratitude. The words are SO important.

That is it for me. What a gorgeous day! Practice outside. The learning files are your best friend.

See you Tuesday looking sharp and song-like!!!

Excitedly,
Marty
