9/26/2025 – Greetings from Vermont
Dear friends,
I am looking out the window and seeing a beautiful technicolor scene on the hills as I write my weekly missive.
Tuesday’s rehearsal was so special from the start: welcome by Andy and Matt, inspirational story from Pete, introductions from our new tenors and an announcement from Katelyn after we sang My Very Own. And then inspired singing. It made for quite a night!
September 30 plan:
Introductions by any other new folks
Warmups #8-10 using all vowels and solfege. To do these successfully, must manage your breath.
Both parts of Celtic Alleluia. Solfege in the key of A.
Ave Verum -soprano and Tenor sections. Here is a recording you can practice with. Do the melody line.
My Very Own- check meas. 42 and the alto divisi meas. 49/50.
Song of Peace
*************************************
Snow-crisp articulation and very light. Set metronome on phone at 144 and you can feel the speed! Work on your entrance in the rolled chords.
Blow, blow- S2 and Altos check meas. 85-95. Greg clarified the problem. Sorry for the confusion.
Winter Wakeneth-Focus meas. 65-71 divisi. Put together with solo. Thank you Allen!!!! Hopefully add flute next week.
Hay, ay-number measures. Say words in rhythm. Feel it in 2 (1+a2+a). Check divisi, especially altos. Be ready to do either alto part. I may add some S2’s as well. It is joyful and lively. Text is traditional English carol.
October 7-Annual Fall Harvest party. This is a great way to mingle and get to know our new folks. Please, always wear your name tags. Thank you Melissa. I can read the names!!!! Attached is a signup genius. If you can, please jump on board and help us make the evening yummy and merry!!!
