10/25/2019 – What a Wonderful Report !

Good Afternoon Folks,

Firstly, I want to thank all of you who were at rehearsal on a rainy Tuesday night! And a special thank you to Wayne and Shisa for a very productive two hours. How do I know? I have listened to the actual rehearsal many times and in general, very pleased. Sounded like you got a lot accomplished. As usual, the most challenging parts of a difficult piece are the entrances. It is all about preparation and hearing in your mind your first note. We will continue working on that element of each piece.

I also want to thank the membership committee for organizing the harvest party. Sounds like I missed some very good treats! Quite frankly, as much as I loved coming to SAnibel and seeing Ray and Treble after being separated for over a month, I am ready to get home to the beautiful colors and cool temperatures. It has been unusually hot here with high humidity which has deterred many of my outdoor activities. The good news though is that I have spent a lot of time on score study, communication with fellow conductors and composers and have written my program notes.

I have a phone call scheduled with our guest clinician on Saturday and will discuss the plan for October 29th. Please wear your T-shirt if you have one and make every effort to be at this rehearsal. I am going to ask her to start with serenade and work the solo sections as if it was an individual voice lesson. I want her to work on tone quality, technique, interpretation and after the rehearsal, I will decide which parts we can do in sections and which will be sung by soloists. Wayne identified the solo parts in each section on the learning files so you can go directly to them. You do not have to listen to the whole piece. Please work very hard on these and make them sing!!!

Tickets, posters, ads, Fall appeal, concert dress, social media invites!!!

November 1st:  Support our DCYC. Invite children to attend the open rehearsal. Then gather around the fire pit to meet DCYC parents. We are all in this music making together!!!

Musical hugs,
Marty
