08/25/2020 – 2020-2021 Season Information … Please Read to the End!
Dear Members, Past and Present,
I hope everyone is well and ready to look to the 2020-2021 season. In spite of these challenging times, we have much to celebrate and I am looking forward to once again celebrating our unique and inspiring story with YOU. Special gratitude for our dedicated and hard-working Board of Directors led by Cris Martin, Steph Davis, Sharon Kachur and Lance Ledebur.
We are moving forward with new projects, exciting new music, mighty Mozart, member-centered contributions, outdoor concert/fundraiser on OCTOBER 3 at Star Bright Lavender Farm and outdoor rehearsals for the DCYC. Your artistic team of Wayne, Julie and I have been meeting regularly and planning with the limitations and health directives in mind. It was a difficult decision to have a modified Fall rehearsal schedule with no in-person rehearsals. But we are excited about what we CAN do.
Registration is now open on the website and very easy to do. Considering the circumstances, there are three ways to remit dues and already, folks have been generous in helping others who are affected by the pandemic. We are a caring community and our choral family important to all of us.
Now for some details. With registration, you will receive a GRK t-shirt, score of ROOTS by Ola Geilo, PDF of How can I KEEP FROM SINGING arranged by Danny McDavitt and the PDF of the marked Mozart score. If you would like Melissa to duplicate for you, it will cost 6.00 for the Mozart. You should contact Melissa if you desire one. And the most exciting benefit of all is a membership of all DCC singers to Choral Tracks where all pieces in their catalogue are available to YOU. A special thanks to WAYNE for researching this and registering our choir. You will receive more info from him as we begin the semester on September 22. Our time together on Tuesday nights will be from 7-7;30. A syllabus will be posted online and a member spotlight will be initiated. Please inform Wayne if you would be interested in participating. Also various folks will be talking about music topics of interest and we will hear from the Gunpowder Riverkeeper about the state of the Gunpowder watershed. If you have something to share, please let me know.
Spring rehearsals will be hopefully in person starting at the end of January with sectionals.
Now for some important dates:
September 8 and 10, 7-8 pm MEET AND GREET in the Bethel parking lot. At that time, we will say hello and give you the items listed above. If you prefer to register in person, Melissa will be there to collect your papers and remittance.
October 3 3;30-7;00 SAVE THE DATE AND SPREAD THE WORD ABOUT OUR FUNDRAISER. IT WILL SELL OUT QUICKLY. STAY TUNED FOR INFORMATION COMING SOON.
November 22 Premiere of our commissioned piece ROOTS and Danny’s How can I keep from singing with Goucher College in the form of a virtual concert.
March 27 With One Voice concert
May 1 and 2 Masterful Mozart concert with Anthony Blake Clark guest conductor.
I know we are tiring of zoom and other platforms in communicating but I am truly hopeful for a vaccine soon and down the road, a good tight hug will be allowed. But until that time, your leadership is doing all we can to keep us together and engaged with one another.
Look forward to seeing you on September 8 or 10th.
Positively,
Marty
