12/31/2021 – Moving forward into 2022

Good morning folks,

As I enjoy my coffee this morning and contemplate the long drive home, I realize how excited I am to start our new musical adventure!!! But of course I didn’t think we would be dealing with Covid again. After much discussion with Wayne, we have decided to postpone the beginning of the semester until January 11. At that point it will be two weeks after the holidays and hopefully the numbers will start declining. I am so glad that we have been proactive in addressing the challenges and look forward to safe and productive rehearsals.  And hearing and following the reports on the Omicron strain, I can’t help but think this marks the tail end of what we’ve been dealing with for almost 3 years. Let’s hope so!

The big challenge for you is to practice with the files the materials for both the 4th and 11th rehearsals. We can’t get behind and don’t know of course about the weather. Please take the syllabus that you received from Wayne and follow the plan, especially studying the new repertoire. We have a lot of music to learn but fortunately much of it we had started during our virtual rehearsals.

A special note of gratitude for those supporting our Fall appeal. A gift no matter the size reinforces your belief in our mission and helps us grow and remain a positive force in our community.

And to finish out my missive of 2021, I have included a link to a short video about the power of choral singing. Please listen through to the end because you will recognize a very powerful piece of music. I feel so strongly that what we do and continue to do will make a difference not only in our health and well-being but to  those that are affected by our love and commitment to the choral
art. And of course the friends we make and the fun we have cannot be emphasized enough!

Stay well, ring in the New Year safely and see you on January 11th.

Warmly,
Marty
