03/17/2020 – Off the Podium: Making Music during the Pandemic
Good morning folks,
How the world has changed in a week! I can still hear you singing in rehearsal last week our songs of unity and peace. It looks like it will be September before we meet together as a group which seems at the moment very Depressing. But this morning I read this article which I found great solace in whether a director or singer.
Yesterday when I sat in my studio between lessons, I took out my old college piano books and started playing a Mozart Sonata. I decided then that I would resurrect the pieces from my senior piano recital and spend some time every day working on that and my guitar. I haven’t had time to study and play the guitar except in an instructional way for years. And of course on top of that I will study my solo voice repertoire. Then I read this article and wanted to share this recommendation to help us get through these stressful times
Please do not hesitate to communicate with me in anyway and if you want to record yourself singing something or playing something, please share it with me. I had a long talk with Danny Last night and with Blake yesterday morning and never fear, we are busy planning for the future. Stay tune and in the meantime, try to immerse yourself in something you haven’t had time to do for a long while. And then I would love you to share those activities with the rest of the group. It might give us all some ideas. Maybe the puzzles are going to come down from the attic! Do have a fruitful day and would love to hear from you!!!
Laura Overturf had a great idea. She said that on Tuesday nights, she was going to practice with the learning files and have the directory in front of her so she could pretend that we are all together. I really like that sentiment!
Sending virtual hugs …
Marty
