06/06/2020 – Update from your Director

Good evening folks,
What a beautiful day following those scary storms last night. Norrisville was right in the center and we had 4.3 inches. Lots of damage but could have been worse.
For those not on Facebook, I wanted to share information on our ongoing mask making for Hopkins. Sharon’s leadership has inspired us sewers and kit makers to produce superb quality masks which are the talk of the town!!! And many have donated funds as well to keep up with the purchase of materials. If you can not sew, you might consider donating To the cause.
Special thanks to Christine Master, Lori Geckle and Mary Sue Shaw for their work as team leaders. I do not have all the figures but just some examples: alto Sally L. has prepared 350 beautiful mask materials and nose pieces from her Mom’s quilting fabric; Kris and her mother Ginger have sewn 201 so far even with Kris having a broken hand; Mary Sue has made 320 in addition to coordinating 28 sewers and Colleen McGonigle has made 180. Congrats to her as she ventures to Indiana to pursue her PHD in microbiology (I think). We will certainly miss her but wish her the very best!!!!
I am sure many of you are volunteering in other ways during this difficult time. We would enjoy hearing about your projects!
The virtual choir has been a huge success with almost 2,000 views. Please send/share to all your friends and family members and ask them to do the same.
PLEASE use the Deer Creek Smile account when ordering from Amazon and ask your family to do the same. As you can well imagine, the organization is having major financial challenges. In the Spring we missed 6  performances! Every way you can help would be much appreciated and doing the above is a no brainer.
Stay tuned for an exciting fundraiser thanks to Kris and Julie. We are all thinking outside the box and appreciate you lending your enthusiasm towards those efforts.
I have been reading much and talking more to folks in our field and will be presenting a plan by the first of August. We will be making music together. Just don’t know how it will look. So many variables and uncertainty but we will figure it out.
Hope some of you were able to tune in to Blake’s musical offering this past Monday. Any chances to sing and learn, go for it!!!
That is a wrap for this day in June. Miss you all!! Stay well, be kind and drop me a line when you can.
Positively
Marty
