04/18/2021 – DCC In-Person Rehearsal at St. Ignatius (4/20)
Hello all,
As we approach our very first in-person rehearsal in over a year, please review the following information and instructions so that we have a successful night. We are working closely with Rob Barberino, St. Ignatius Music Director, so that everyone involved feels safe and comfortable participating.
If you are not participating in the virtual concert recording scheduled for April 27, there is no need to attend the rehearsal this Tuesday. For our planning purposes and so we don’t worry, please let Marty and I know if you haven’t done so already. As we promised at the beginning of these plans, “no pressure…no guilt.” This is a decision that is yours and yours alone and regardless of your choice, we will continue to love and respect every one of you. We look forward to a future time when we will all be able to gather again and join our voices together in song.
Location – St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Hickory, 533 E Jarrettsville Rd, Forest Hill, MD 21050
Date & Time – Tuesday, April 20. Temperature checks cannot begin until 6:45. Don’t come earlier but be there in enough time so that rehearsal can begin exactly at 7:00!
Expectations – We have indicated to St. Ignatius that we will be following their guidelines for using their facility in addition to our own as follows.
- Designated entrance and exit to and from the sanctuary.
- Temperature checks at the entrance directing any of our singers who show up with an elevated reading to return home.
- Avoid any physical contact with each other.
- Individual placement in the sanctuary maintaining at least 6′ social distancing.
- No congregating/socializing in the sanctuary or adjacent areas. Take any visiting with each other outdoors with proper social distancing.
- Participants will wear masks that cover mouth and nose for the entire time they are inside. (Please wear your DCC singer’s mask.)
Facility Conditions – St. Ignatius resumed in-person services in the sanctuary last May, following the guidelines of the CDC and
Maryland State Health Department and there have been no reported issues. He describes additional measures as follows.
- The Church buildings have been sprayed with a protective coating for all bacteria and viruses and was recently tested for continued effectiveness. This protectant is used in hospitals, operating rooms, schools, and many other high contact/traffic areas.
- The air handling equipment in the sanctuary cycles the air in the room every 23 to 25 minutes and is filtered several times. Additionally, the air receives an ultraviolet burst before being pushed into the room.
- The pews are roped off and have marked spots for six foot distancing.
- The bathrooms are cleaned every day, sometimes more often, with the best cleaners that are confirmed to kill 99.9% of all viruses and bacteria.
Covid Waiver – As we’ve been recently reminded, St. Ignatius requires all attendees to complete a simple waiver form. Copies were distributed at our sectional rehearsals last week, a .pdf of the form was attached to an email from Melissa, it is available from our shared Google drive, and is also attached to this email. After all that, if you still need one on Tuesday, we will have blanks that can be completed on the spot. This is your “ticket” to enter the sanctuary on Tuesday. Before we begin, I must submit them to Rob with a guarantee that there is one from every participant.
Please have your music in a black folder and in order (Wake, Viva, Roots, Hope, Water is Wide, How Can I, Hand in Hand.), have a pencil, and come with your voices warmed up ready to sing. We will review the dress for April 27 later.
If you have any questions, please let me know.
Looking forward to making music together again!
Wayne
