Our Fundraising Events
Deer Creek Chorale and its choirs hold several fundraising events throughout the season to help with operating expenses and artistic endeavors. Members, donors and friends meet and mingle to support the choirs. Often, one of our choirs perform.
Big Band in the Barn 2023
What an amazing afternoon! Guests were treated to the outstanding music of Ain’t Misbehavin’ Big Band in the Star Bright Barn along with a silent auction, wine pull and shopping in the Star Bright store. Boordy Vineyards was on hand with wine, Diamondback Brewery was there with beer and a pit beef buffet was provided in the new barn by Griffith Hill Catering. As often happens, the fall weather was wet and dreary, but the warmth and fun of the event drowned that all out.
Celebrating Song at Silo Hill 2022
Challenging weather conditions lead to a date and venue change for our fall fundraiser, but it was still a wonderful success. Charm City Junction thrilled our packed house with their musical stylings. The silent auction, wine pull and live auction (thanks to auctioneer Andrew Banghart), were all very successful and lots of fun. Special thanks to the DCC board members for providing the food and an extra thank you to Michael and Carolyn Sotir for their generosity and gracious support as hosts.
Celebrating Song in the Country at Star Bright Farm – 15th Anniversary of DCC 2021
The Deer Creek Chorale celebrated the beginning of its 15th Anniversary by holding its second annual Fall Fundraiser event at the lovely Star Bright Farm in early October. A gorgeous sunny day was enjoyed by all as they were entertained by the DCYC Youth Choir, The Ladies Six, The Drews, Emalyn Bullis and Katelyn Hemling, pianist Lori Geckle, and the Different Sisters Band. A boxed meal was catered by Eats and Sweets and our guests sat on the hillside to hear the delightful music renditions. The Silent Auction and the Live Auction were both very successful raising over $8400. We wish to thank our hosts, Mark and Helen Elmore, and all those who supported us as we start our 15th year with a celebratory in-person gathering. See you all next year at Star Bright Farm.
Afternoon in the Country at Star Bright Farm 2020
On Saturday, October 3, 2020, Star Bright Farm hosted a very successful benefit concert for the multi-talented Deer Creek Chorale. The afternoon in the country featured popular selections from Musical Theater, Opera and Americana performed by our Deer Creek Chorale Choirs. Guests enjoyed the beauty of the lavender farm; a warm reunion of the DCC choirs and our singers; a diverse and enthusiastic audience made up of old and new friends; delicious picnic fare and drinks and a profitable live auction. The event was a spectacular success and we look forward to many more opportunities to collaborate with Star Bright Farm.
Farm to Table Dinner 2019
Our autumn Farm to Table supper at Fawn View Farm in Pylesville, MD has become an annual favorite of members and guests alike. Hearty farm fare is the best part of this casual family style evening featuring foods, wines, craft beers and products from local farms. Want to leave with a home-made apple pie? A turkey for Thanksgiving dinner? Place your bid at the silent auction table and enjoy the music and fun!
180 members and guests enjoyed our October 2019 event and savored local cheeses, breads, wine from Fiori and craft brews from Independent Brewing Company. Local gold-medal winning chefs Wendy and Joe Borkoski prepared mouth-watering meats and vegetables from local farms. NO ONE had to be reminded to eat their vegetables! Homemade pies and local dairy ice creams finished off the meal.
Our musical guest for the evening was blue grass band “Late for Supper” and guests also enjoyed performances from the Deer Creek Youth Choir and Deer Creek Chamber singers.

Inform & Inspire 10th Anniversary Event
The DCC celebrated its 10th Anniversary with a fabulous Inform and Inspire gala. Guests enjoyed a magical evening of dinner, drinks, live music and a beautiful sunset. Featured speaker (and surprise performer) Goucher College President and world-renowned jazz pianist Jose Antonio Bowen inspired the large gathering of merry-makers. Our own Steve Scheinberg Jazz Trio serenaded guests during dinner, and celebrity chanteuse Carolyn Black-Sotir dazzled us with Gershwin. Premium raffle baskets offered an opportunity for additional fun. The Silo Hill property offered a stunning view of the surrounding countryside and continues to host the noted Steinway Series of concerts featuring local and national guest artists to benefit Parkinson’s Disease.
