A Reflection on a Wonderful Evening – Inform & Inspire 2024
Were you there for the recent Inform and Inspire event? If you missed it, let me tell you it was the best one yet. Silo Hill was all decked out with gigantic mums, pumpkins, fall floral arrangements, and elegant table displays. As we approached, the gorgeous sound of Jazz met the guests. The cheer of Steve Scheinberg playing solo sax made us want to dance. Hardworking Sharon and Kris had everything planned to a T. Our amazing cooks pulled out their best hors d’oeuvre recipes. Our favorite husband, Ray, was king of the beverage table in the silo, while Lance held court over the wine pull. Even the wine bottles were decked out in darling tote bags and ribbons for future reuse thanks to Lisa. Steph looked radiant when she welcomed the guests and introduced Ebb and Flow who now number 12 ladies. Their harmony and blend were recognized as pure perfection. If that wasn’t enough our talented Roy pulled out a Mendelssohn, “Song Without Words” that was very appropriate. Our leader Marty introduced our commissioned piece by the amazing Z. Randall Stroope, followed by the video about Helen May Martin which made us cry to think we didn’t know of her handicaps. And just when our emotions were about to get the best of us, Ryan and Louis pulled us back to smiles with their gorgeous duets. Then it was time for our speaker Dr. Paul Rardin. He took the stage with only short notes, but soon was totally off the cuff with great praise for the gift of music and its gift to each of us. He admitted that with all his achievements and accolades, he has never started his own choir. He gave Marty great compliments for what she has accomplished and challenged those gathered to help make more happen. He said that the future could mean travel to musical destinations or more opportunities through more staff. The weather could not have been better with warm clear skies. As we left, we were greeted with a jar of homemade apple butter with the cutest label reading: “The DCC Apple-Lauds Your Generosity.” It was a perfect evening….
