Collaboration – The Heart of DCC

Collaboration – The Heart of DCC

Collaboration is at the heart of all we do at Deer Creek Chorale. From working with other musical ensembles to supporting our annual charity partner, we know that when we work with others, we strengthen ourselves and our community. One particular week in March has been filled with collaborative efforts and it speaks to who we are as an organization.

On March 8th, the unity of the choral community in the Baltimore region was on display at the With One Voice choral festival held at Kraushaar Auditorium, Goucher College. The festival concluded with a free concert allowing each ensemble the time to shine individually as well as perform together as a unified body. Participating groups included Bel Air Community Chorus Chamber Ensemble, Goucher Choral Society, The Maryland State Boychoir Treble Choir, Towson University Men’s Choir, Charm City Sings, Deer Creek Youth Choir and Deer Creek Chorale.

The following day on March 9th, Deer Creek Chorale joined musical forces with the Susquehanna Symphony Orchestra for their first collaboration in ten years. The concert “The Gift of Melody – Darkness and Light” at Bel Air High School featured a performance of “Illuminare” by Elaine Hagenberg that showcased the chorale and the symphony sharing the stage. It was a beautiful afternoon.

Our collaborative efforts continued on March 11th as members of Deer Creek Chorale and Deer Creek Youth Choir came together to pack 100 Kits for Kids, supplying necessary medical supplies to children in under-resourced areas of the world. Kids for Kids is a program of Project C.U.R.E., our 2024-2025 charitable partner. Project C.U.R.E. works to deliver medical supplies to resource limited countries. The supplies that were packed were all donated by members of the DCC community. Many hands made for light work and it was a fun, quick process. Thank you to all who donated and served!
